American Duty (in English)

Dear american friends,

America, land of freedom, land of the American dream where personal fulfillment is more than a lifestyle, where it is an ideal. America has made us all dream here in Europe, America today smells like bankruptcy and third world like misery. We admire your creativity, inventiveness, your human wealth and we see fall into a late Empire that nothing seems to slow down. So, with our small ideas, ideas of an old world, we in this website, we dare to challenge you. Not to lecture you, to make you realize your wealth and suggest a way out of the doldrums.

The tragedy of the 50 million Americans suffering from food insecurity is not due to a lack of food : it is abundant homeland. It is their lack of pay to acquire, to feed their children with dignity, to invest in their training, education for their tremendous youth.

Yes, the situation is serious. Employment was the motivation of all policy decisions since (at least) Reagan : unemployment is at its highest when we look closely to official figures. The salary is at its lowest point that people - including those who have a job - can not eat properly, can not build projects for the future, can not flourish and benefit from a hard-won freedom.

We suggest you to break employment, to fight it and to promote wage. Pay should be decoupled from the work. This salary would be a recognition of what is produced outside the employment and would be a vector of freedom, unconditional incentive to participate in economic activity, productive one, develop creativity, art, research, science, to cultivate the secret garden of the family or the countless gifts and skills of you people.

This suggestion may seem absurd, bizarre but think about it, just for a moment. And if your wages are owed to you anyway, and if you work for the love of your work, and if you could deploy your potential in your work, and if you can work, work hard, work passionately, out of employment, and if you could stop being stuck in the machine by your potential employment, if you could build a beautiful country, bigger, more space, if you could get involved in your community, wouldn't it sound quite American?

I guess a green card would make me dream.
